I know, but we added XF86TouchpadOn/Off with the explanation that it
would be weird to ungroup it from XF86TouchpadToggle. I think the same
logic applies here for XF86Audio keys.

Personally, I don't see why we need to leave the XF86 namespace. Sure,
it isn't really ours, and there is potential for conflict, but I'd
expect the number of people using a mix of XF86/X.org servers/clients to
be extremely low or non-existent.
