No they just weren't doing things right,

Its code that we have to maintain, and its now full of workarounds for
a bug that
isn't in the X server, what happened to fixing things properly in one place.

Its not X.org's job to cover over bugs in crazy upstream stack combos
that companies
don't have the resources to properly maintain.
