In GNOME, it's System->Preferences->Power Manager. There set the "Put display to sleep when inactive for:" to "Never". Though as it seems it happens while you're working (?) this is probably not the reason. 3. Cleaning the amount of options, like stated. But really, I'd guess only the option 1 has the real possibility to fix the problem at the moment, but all are worth trying anyway.
