The result was a much more fluent tuxracer that was actually playable. The downside however, is a much slower 2D rendering. For example when moving a window over an area of the desktop with icons, the background flickers. Also moving a window from one viewport to another on Compiz will result in a pretty rough transition. It would be great if we could have the best of both worlds.
