In my case waiting for falling edge was no-op. It was clearly visible in Exa:
waiting for FE had no effect but RE slowed Exa rendering greatly. But 
it's certainly good to hear more test results with both scenarios.

Could you please test just first Alex patch (without changed flag)? In 
your case FE might be better than RE.
