I have found that the display output on the LVDS screen on my 19" iMac (model
7,1) has a garbled display. The DVI output for my 2nd monitor seems to be fine.
This has been a problem with the Radeon driver for a while and does not occur
with the RadeonHD driver. It also seems to occur with the latest 6.12.4 version
of the radeon driver (which I pulled from the Debian Experimental
repositories). My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 2600.
