Might an issue with the timer not getting restarted not also affect other kernel drivers? Chances could then be a lot higher that this will be fixed. I haven't looked at the sources yet myself, nor do I have time to experiment with them, unfortunately. I any kind of log helps I'll be more than happy to provide it. This issue is a show-stopper for me, so I think I'm going to file a a bug for it.
