Your laptop uses an i2c gpio mux that toggles one i2c line between the HDMI and DVI ports and also appears to use a mux to toggles the data/clock lines between the two ports. I implemented support for the i2c mux in 2.6.36 (http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=26b5bc986423cf3887e09188cb662ed651c5374d), but it appears your laptop uses the clock/data mux as well.
