sorry, i don't think i was clear - i am using bootcamp for now, and using
DynamicPM causes a black screen and unresponsiveness, as described.

i tried out EFI booting a while ago (however that too has additional unrelated
issues which make it a deal breaker for now), which is what i was referring to
then.
