I just got a new HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with an AMD A10-4600M APU (which
contains the Radeon HD 7660G GPU).
I read that the 3.4 kernel now supports Trinity, so i tried it
(installed the 3.4-trunk-amd64 from debian) but the first problem was
that the Xorg.log told me that kernel modesetting was required. I have
"/etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf" which contains: options radeon modeset=1
This didn't turn it on, though, so i added it to grub and now X just
hangs in an uninterruptable sleep state.
I think this may be an issue with h/w not quite completely supported yet
and if so, i'll be happy to do whatever i can to troubleshoot the problem.
I loaded the debian packages: xserver-xorg-core-dbg (1.12.1.902-1) &
xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg (6.14.4-5) and ran gdb but it just hung
while attaching to X (of course).
I also have a problem that when i boot into 3.4 the laptop screen goes
dark while booting (right after doing a modprobe of some sort, i think).
I ssh in and everything is working fine, but the screen doesn't work.
