This means that your X server is extremely old. Are you able to
consider upgrading to a newer one?

I think you mean:

.. which will fail because it's against the Intel driver, not the Geode
one; it's given as an example of what a patch to make it work might look
like.
So, I think your options are:
* upgrade to a newer X server
* downgrade to an older version of the Geode driver than 2.9.0
* rework the patch to apply to Geode instead of Intel
