(or killall X, but if only X hangs, that may eventually not restore the graphics?) ) but i guess that, because your sysrq-keys are not working, that it won't come to that... if that works, you can debug the issue further by looking at the logs (which may not survive a cold-reset, depending on the filesystem...) if not and you have no other computer around, you are probably out of luck to find out why it's not working. most people try to update various x-server dependencies in that case ... libdrm, mesa, xf86-input-evdev (or -mouse/-kbd) and whatnot... ah, i forgot: you probably wanna take a look here: http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2009Q3.html and open a bug report at bugs.freedesktop.org against xorg|driver/intel for this 'meta' release... otherwise the dependencies are hard to get right. > > > If there is a kernel-problem, you could try to debug it with > > netconsole[2] or a serial-console. (zapping the xserver is disabled by default nowadays, so always try a strg-alt-f1 change instead) -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. > Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? >> A: Top-posting. >>> Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?
