I think what's happening is that if you are listed as a "current" member then no "renew your membership" button appears. If we want to keep this manual renewal step in the future, (which has benefits since I believe our bylaws determine the validity of elections based on a percentage of "active" members), then we need to manually expire everyone's membership before starting the election process. And I guess this didn't happen this time around, (which is probabyl my fault for not documenting the process better from last year). Thanks for your patience.
