Ben, Thanks for raising the uninitialized buffer issue. Unfortunately I won't have free time to perform valgrind runs on the code before I leave for my trip.

I really need to stay focused on the XRL code when I get back from my trip, however. Keeping the relevant information with the issue, in the Trac database, is really helpful, as it helps others to pick up and investigate in an ongoing way; they may not have all the context/state from what you are actually trying to do at that moment.
