Hi there, There's already an out-of-date patch that does this: http://sourceforge.net/p/xournal/patches/21/ multiple page view and lasso selection
Unfortunately, this was against an old version of xournal, and does two things instead of one. The lasso selection part is included in the current version 0.4.7; the multiple page view option didn't make it (and I'm not sure whether allowing up to 7 pages side by side is really useful, though it's of course not harder to implement than 2). So: it definitely is possible, and in fact it should be reasonably easy to take only the multi-page portions of the above patch and update things to match against the current version.
