I read the thread here: Hi Romano, welcome to the teacher's hacking group. first let me apologize for taking this long to reply to you. It is two weeks since your reply. Denis (the main maintainer of Xournal) and I (who have been doing most of the maintenance lately) have been having very little time lately (this term of year has been dreadful for me both teaching and research wise). The best place for finding out what xournal state is the readme file in my github repo: https://github.com/dmgerman/xournal Perhaps I'll take this opportunity to update everybody. - The stable version of Xournal is Denis. - I keep an "enhanced" version of Xournal in the branch next: https://github.com/dmgerman/xournal/tree/next - I have been working on a port to GTK3. The port is almost complete but it suffers due to bad performance in slow CPU machines. This is a major concern for me, given that in the last 8 months my main Xournal computer is a Thinkpad Tablet 2 (in fact, it is a computer dedicated almost exclusively to Xournal). Xournal stable and next run very well on it (if anybody wants a copy of the windows binary I run, don't hesitate to ask). - There are some enhances to xournal here and there that need to be integrated. In my opinion these are the most important (this does not reflect Denis' view): - While editing a PDF insert an empty page before/after the current one. Xournal copies the current page. - Support bookmarks (partially implemented, but requires work) I'll probably go back to hacking on xournal in 2-3 weeks. I'll also mention that my main priority has been PDF annotation. While I use Xournal for creating notes, I mostly use it for editing and reviewer papers. Romano> https://www.mail-archive.com/xournal-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg00324.html and what I can do is to test Xournal in my Linux 13.10 laptop and Romano> helping ironing out things. I used to program a bit in C, I know a Romano> little of C++, but my skills with graphic interfaces are practically Romano> zero (don't think programming graphics on Commodore 64 helps...); on the Romano> other hand I am able to use basic git and I am not scared about Romano> compiling and test things. So... I suppose from the above discussion that the logical thing Romano> would be to test the gtk3 port with the later addition... especially Romano> nice the ones done by the students cited in the thread above. Do you Romano> have any hint --- which repositories copy, which branches, something Romano> like that --- to start testing? the answer is to use the branches in my repo.
