I don't expect that. When I stumbled upon this, I was not aware I changed the 
PDF - xournal was not even running on the same machine as pdflatex (sshfs, 
yay), this simply caught me off guard.

Let me put what I said somewhat more formal:
xournal implicitely assumes the PDF Background it uses never changes, 
especially not when xournal has it opened.
Im just saying it may be a good idea to tell the user xournal's assumption do 
not hold anymore, so unexpected things may happen.
I imagine this is not so hard[1] - put an inotify on the file while xournal is 
running, for loading a document check ctime or a hash of the pdf.

I'm not saying what's happening now is wrong behaviour, it just would be nice 
if it was nicer.

BTW, thank you big times for this great program! Probably ranking 4th or 5th on 
my list of most-used software.
