i had a similar problem as this using an amd athlon and thanks to the
people of this list i had found that there is a problem in some of the
early 2.4 kernel of linux.(assuming you are using linux) to confirm
whether or not this is a problem for you do a %cat /proc/mtrr and check
that the sizes reported are legitimate, you should also check out your
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/mtrr.txt file.  the problem is fixed in
kernel 2.4.5 and later i believe.  i hope this may be useful
