Hello,
I have a recurring problem with seemingly random Signal 11's with any
version of XFree86 in the 4.x series. 3.3.6 series servers do not suffer
from the following problem.
I have run all releases of XFree86 4.0 - 4.1.0 (and every release
inbetween) on the following hardware configurations throught the
development cycle, on several different distributions (SuSE, RH, and
Slackware). After a random amount of time - sometimes minutes,
sometimes days, the server will die with a Signal 11:
Dell PowerEdge 6300 (Quad Xeon 500) with ATI Rage 128
IBM Netfinity 5600 (Dual PIII 667) with Matrox MMS Quad Monitor
Tyan Tunderbolt S1873UANG-R (Dual PIII 600) with Matrox Marvel G400
I have gone to great lengths to try and isolate the problem - which I
don't beleive is hardware related. All systems are running within
specifications and are fairly new systems.
I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing these problems, and
if so, what steps did you take to correct it? Also, if anyone has
similar hardware, I would like to know if you are *not* having these
problems. I've posted on various related message boards and nobody
seems to be aware of these problems. I can't beleive these are the only
systems experiencing this problems, as each one is quite different from
the others, and are running more-or-less stock Linux distributions.
Thanks for listening.
