Hi,
We have a PCM-9370F single board computer made by Advantech, which is
equipped with a Transmeta TM5400 CPU and a Silicon Motion Lynx3DM
graphics adapter. It has connectors for VGA, LCD panel and CRT ("TV out",
CVBS and S-Video).
The only part that I'm intending to use is the TV out. Unfortunately,
I'm not able to get any output from it under Linux. We tried with
XFree86 4.1.0 which comes with the latest Silicon Motion drivers
(version 1.2.2), as well as an older version of XFree86 3.3 with the smi
driver, which came with the Advantech board. Both X servers work well on
the VGA, but produce no output on the "TV out".
Searching for this problem in the Xpert mailing list archives produced
some hints that the "TV out" connector needs to be enabled in the BIOS.
However, this board's BIOS setup has no section where one could enable it.
Under Microsoft Windows, I'm able to use the "TV out" by selecting it in
the special "Lynx3DM" tab in the display settings. Is it possible to
implement such a "selector" also in Linux? I would not need anything
special, it just would need to enable the output to the "TV out"...
Oh, and while I'm at it: The "M" in the "Lynx3DM" supposedly stands for
motion compensation support built in the hardware, which could take a
big burden away from the Crusoe when playing back MPEGs. Is there any
MPEG player under Linux that can take advantage of this? Neither
MPlayer, nor VLC, nor Xine seem to do it...
Thanks a lot for any replies!
