Greetings, All!

I'm new to the list. I looked back on the archives, and couldn't find my
answer there. A search on DejaNews didn't yield much help, either, so I am
hoping that you are able to do so.

I have setup a server with Mandrake 8.0 (XFree86 4.0.3) as a "thin-client"
server (using the Linux Terminal Server Project binaries), so that I can run
diskless workstations. After everything was installed, and I tried booting
one of the diskless clients (with an i810 video card), I got the following
error:

<---START--->
Symbol VBEInit from module /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/i810_drv.o is
unresolved
Symbol vbeDoEDID from module /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/i810_drv.o is
unresolved
(==) Depth 24 pixmap format is 32bpp
(II) I810(0): setting dot clock to 65.0MHz [ 0x3f 0xa 0x30 ][ 65 12 3 ]
(II) I810(0): chose watermark 0x22214000: (tab.freq 65.0)

Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0
<----END---->

I thought perhaps it was something to do with the version of the module, so
I downloaded the appropriate XFree86 4.1.0 binaried for my system, and
installed them. That seemed to solve the problem, but now I get this error:

<---START--->
"pcidata" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
<----END---->

This was after I had copied the contents of /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/ to the
appropriate directory for the LTSP installation (I had this working before
the re-install, and had a script that copied all the appropriate modules
over).

Now, it sounds to me like the LTSP client is expecting the libpcidata.a
module from one version of XFree86, but the one it is finind is from another
version. I have even tried manually copying the libpcidata.a module from
the /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/ to where it is supposed to reside in the LTSP
directory structure.

I guess my real question is, what am I doing wrong? Should I be upgrading
using RPMs, and if so, which ones should I upgrade? If you have any other
suggestions, I am more than willing to hear them.

Thanx, in advance!
