I im not a member, so please reply to me at the same time. Please sorry if
my english is not good.
First of all, there is a confusing documentation about NVIDIA support.
If I go to the support section of the www.xfree.org site, and search 4.x.x
version, then "Driver Status/NVIDIA", here says that this chipset has the
accelerated support. If I go to "DRI User Guide", under the same XFree
version number, the NVIDIA chipset doesnt appear here.
Second, as I couldnt get acceleration with my Diammond Viper V550 (with
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 chipset) under XFree 4.0.2, (so the DRI User Guide is
right, and the Driver Status doc is wrong), I went to the nvidia home page,
and found the linux driver for all its products. I installed this driver,
following all the instructions, and the acceleration now works. But most
programs abort with a segmentation fault. I could only see the acceleration
on little programs like some xscreensaver GL demos (even some of them
doesnt work).
What is wrong? Has or had anybody the same problem? If had, how have you
solved it?
