argh.

Two signifigant problems....

I am currently using XFree86 CVS from sunday this past weekend. I
switched from X4.1.0 in an attempt to fix the first problem. i run
enlightenment 16.5 on its own, using mostly gnome apps.:

#1 - I own a voodoo3 graphics card. I have since X4 had problems with
the text moving to a differant location on teh creen than the rest of
the images. This rpoblem only occurs after an amount of time..as short
as half an hour after booting X and as long as 3 days. If i
successfully drop to the command-line and restart X, If will be fine for
another amount of time before completely locking up the display.
Neither of these problems crashed the computer.

I am happy to say the CVs seemed to fix this. but now...after an amount
of time X will simply lock up completely, and crash the machine if i do
not ssh in immediatly and reboot. The lockups only occur when windows
are being drawn or when i switch desktops. I know from other postings
on this list that the voodoo3 chipset will lock up when it is sent an
invalid value. This problem however was supposidly fixed in CVS by now.

#2 - I use a "Basic Mouse Serial and PS/2 Compatable" made by microsoft.
It is a ps2 mouse, but i can find no driver that works with the mouse.
I also beleive this is a kernel issue...default installs of mandrake
with modular mouse kernels have not worked. i am forced to recompile in
the Busmouse, Ms busmouse, ps2, and ps2 microsoft support. however
this is tempermental, and does not always fix the problem. Has anyone
else run into this issue before?

Sorry for the long email, jus wanted to provide details. If anyone has
seen these problems before, please contact me.

with many thanks-
Matt Beale
