Thanks a lot, that seems to have solved the problem. It still won't work at 1600x1200 @24bpp though... a bunch of lines are screwed up & interlaced and jitter about, about 1/3 from the right edge of the screen. Playing with the other options did not help. But it works @16bpp. OTOH, my 3.3.6 XF86Config is set to 16bpp too, and I don't remember if the card ever worked at 24bpp properly.
