im running an amd 762 based mobo with a radeon vivo and experience the same
problem

i tried checking out the cvs sources but could never get it to run properly.
im assuming the current cvs build has issues

back to the ati problem

from what i can tell there are 3 files that need to be patched in the source
distro before it will run properly on a radeon

im in the process of unzipping the 4.1.0 source as we speak so bare with me.
im going to try to patch things up and if im successful i will give you what
information i have at hand

Casey

on a side note if you edit your xfree options and add in option "noaccel"
and option "swcursor" then it will work, it will just be dog slow
