Hi all,
I have the following strange (IRQ, maybe) problem relating X11: I have a
Gericom Webgine laptop with the SiS630 chipset. This chipset has integrated
the SiS300+SiS301 graphic card, an internal Smartlink HAMR56 winmodem as
well as other chips. I have succefully configured the internal winmodem with
proprietary drivers supplied by SL. I have X working.
Now to the problem, the modem works perfectly before loading X. X works
well no mather what. But if I use the modem with X loaded, I get some type
of incompatibility:
*I cannot get a 56K connection (bad handshaking with lots of noise) if X is
already loaded,
*Transfer rates drop drastically if I load X after the connection and even it
sometimes hang.
With all my ignorance, I suspect it's an IRQ problem. However, the modem
uses IRQ10 shared with the NIC, no other device seems to use it. Modem and
NIC work well together, moreover I do not load the ethernet drivers for this
tests.
*lspci shows no IRQ for the graphic card.
*The output of Xfree shows no IRQ taken (? I don't know if this is even
done in any case)
PS: I have used a patch taken from this list for letting the bios initialize
the sis301 chip. Besides this, is a fresh Xfree-4.1 installation.
I don't have any clue. Is it possible to change IRQ assigning in order to
test? My bios doesn't have any option for this. What tipe of testing should
I make?
