Voodoo3 3500 TV can do 800x600, r128 and radeon have patches for tvout as well
and can also only do 800x600. Matrox: tvout it supported, dunno what max
resolution.

I think you're better out buying a hardware converter, I think the thing is
called "scan converter". These things cost about 150$ and are usually
OS-independent.
