Hello,

Sorry to bother, but I'm really at my wits end with this, and hopefully
someone more familiar with the inner workings of the Trident drivers can help
me.

        I'm using a Gateway Solo 9100 which has a Trident 9397DVd chip. Whenever I
run applications that use the Xv extensions, the machine will crash,
requiring a power off or hard reset to clear it.

Another problem is that some applications - notably xine - when they
initialize the Xv port (I'm assuming here, as it happens before any image is
sent) causes the screen colors to change to weird rainbow colors. The only
way to clear this is to power down. Restarting the X server doesn't fix it,
and restarting Linux doesn't clear it either.

What troubleshooting data, configs or logs can I supply that will help?

Any assistance is much appreciated. Am running XFree 4.0.1 from Mandrake
cooker.
