I just did a build from cvs and X now runs on my system w/ a Radeon 8500.
I just wanted to thank those who're working on it. I do have a question
about support for things like playing video (i.e. mpeg and/or avi files).
I noticed that there's not yet any DRI support for the 8500's (that I can
see), so I recompiled SDL to not use DRI and then recompiled my smpeg and
avifile libraries. However, when I try to play an mpeg or avi, all I is
get is a black box (offset slightly to the right of the window frame)
where there would normally be the video. I've tried this both w/ and w/o
DRI support in the SDL library and get the same results. Is this something
to do w/ the radeon driver, or should I be talking to the SDL developers?

Thanks.

FYI, the system is an Athlon system w/ Red Hat 7.2 install (no changes to
any of the video libraries other than those described above).
