I'm in search of help to make a Weitek P9100 video card work under
Slackware 8.0 (or any other linux OS). Slackware 8.0 came with X 4.1.0 so
that's what I currently have installed. It's all running on an Intergraph
TD-3 Pentium 100 with 32MB RAM. I think the video card has 4MB of RAM but
am not certain. I've tried running xf86config and chosen the weitek driver,
the 50-70 refresh rate, 640x480, 256 colors. When I run startx the monitor
goes black, and the entire system is unresponsive. I've tried running
xf86cfg which immediately puts the system in the black screen unresponsive
state, as well as xfree86setup. I would like to move back down to X 3.3.6
but don't know how to un-install 4.1.0, and am not entirely sure it would
be necessary. If anyone has any ideas on how I can make this dinosaur work
properly I'd greatly appreciate it. My overall goal for this machine is to
be a linux router that has simplistic X functions for web browsing through
either KDE or GNOME.

Thanks,
Rob
