I tested the 2.4.17-pre8 kernel on my SiS 630 based Laptop. The sisfb doesn't
oops for me anymore - but the screen is as black as it is with an unmodified
4.1.0 XFree ...

The external CRT-output has a signal which my 21" workstation monitor
is able to display ;-) ...

Whether drm does work I have to check after some sleep ...

Also your attached patch doesn't apply on the 2.4.17-pre8 kernel.

Might it be an option putting some public preassure generated by a /.
, other news and www.heise.de to get sis releasing the description
of the bit used to programm the digital output??

Does anyone know if it is possible to let the external CRT display another
region of the video-memory (dual-head)? (Yes - needing sleep I started
dreaming ... ;-)
