I note that the current xf86site.def and linux.cf files #define InstallFSConfig to YES. This #define is somewhat misleading -- it *forces* the current XFree86 configuration to override any existing configuration. With it left to NO, the installer will install a configuration where none exists and leave an existing configuration alone.
