Hello,

I have a problem for Xperts.

I am running XFree86 v3.3.6a (video card is not supported by 4.x)
on RH 7.1.

I have the following problem. I have three network interfaces:
-eth0 with ip 192.168.1.1
-eth1 with ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
-ppp0 with ip yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy (and peer zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz)

ppp0 is the default interface (it is in fact a tunnel through eth1
which is a high speed internet connection. I fully understand this
setup and it works).

The hostip is yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy (which resolves correctly from
the hostname).

When I execute

X -query zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz -ac :1 (recall zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz is the peer of
ppp0)

the X server sends XDMCP packets to zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz and zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz.

answers it is "willing to manage".

HOWEVER the reply by zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz does not
go to yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy but to 192.168.1.1 which is the private IP address
of
my internal lan interface eth0 and which is of course inaccessible from
the outside.

Inspection of the XDCMP packets coming from my computer
with ethereal shows that they really refer to the address 192.168.1.1
instead of to the address of my computer: yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy.

Question: is this normal behaviour and how can I change it?

I would be extremely grateful for anybody who can help
me in this matter.

Best regards,
Michel
