Sorry for the duplicate post folks - that last one didn't quite make sense. What I meant to say is that the Xserver crashes and restarts whenever I issue the "xvinfo" command or otherwise query the Xv extension. It does display some information before dying - it seems to make it through the "video4linux" adaptor, but then quits when it comes to the I815.
