got it. Used cvs to checkout for the new XFree86. Only the following files
are required.
/usr/X11/bin/XFree86
/usr/X11/lib/modules/dri/radeon_dri.so
/usr/X11/lib/modules/drivers/ati_drv.o
/usr/X11/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o
My IBM X22 is running X again! Runs great. BigSmile.
