I have an Inspiron 4100, 1Ghz, 16MB Radeon Mobility M6 that I cannot
keep running for any length of time. The machine is pingable and I can
ssh into it, but the display is locked.

I have compiled a 2.4.18-pre7 kernel since it has the agpgart fixes, and
am using the latest radeon driver from dri.sourceforge.net. I also
patched it with the latest i810_audio driver. I am using Redhat 7.2
(with latest redcarpet updates) with Ximian (with latest redcarpet
updates). I have not upgraded to the 4.1.0-15 rpms yet(or 4.2.0 for
that matter).

Today I found a screensaver that will lockup X-- StarWars. Sometimes it
takes a while and sometimes it doesn't. I had the screensaver on random
one night, and it crashed on StarWars. I then had the screen saver on
random last night-- no crash. So I made it so only StarWars was the
screensaver-- after a few minutes it crashed. No kernel errors and no
errors in XFree86.0.log. For now I disabled the screensaver-- but feel
it could crash at any time.

Is it a requirement to use XFree86 4.2.0 with the drivers from
http://www.xfree86.org/~alanh/ ? I am using those drivers but with the
redhat 4.1.0 rpms.

Also, is the support for this chipset (4c59 based on lspci) considered
stable at this point?

Thank you for your help!
