All,
Im not sure if my first messages made it to the list
or not but heres my situation. I am running on 4.2.0
with a Radeon AGP AIW (32mb) and a PCI Radeon
(also 32mb) and have been experiencing server hangs
and system lockups when running X with the XAA
extension enabled. In this configuration I do not
have DRI configured and I am using a minimal
configuration. I have been able to find a reproducable
case where i can hang the server. In essence if I disable
all acceleration extensions except for screentoscreencopy
I am able to consistantly hang the server by draggin
a netscape window from one monitor to the other. From
here I found that the engine was timing out as stated in
the X log... so I enable debugging and found that
this occured in the RADEONWaitForIdle function.
The interesting part is radeon status register when
entering the function appear normal in the sense
the the number of fifo entries is 64. But a some point
the status word on the card goes to 0xffffffff and
things go down hill from there... I verified that it
is not a case of loosing the MMIO or info pointers..
it really seems like the card is freaking out. Has
anyone else been expiencing a similar problem?
Is there any one out there that my be able to help
me debug this... I have no chip docs and and relying
on the code to gain infomation about the chip.

thanks,
Jonathan Nicklin
