The mouse wheel emulation via a 4th button is a great idea. I think it's actually even better that real mouse wheels. The only problem with it is that it requires a fourth button, and we are all aware of the enourmous variety of underbuttonned mice out there.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to use this feature with *any* mouse? I mean, users of modern keyboards usually have at least one key they can spare---think any of the various keys right of the space bar, for instance, or the Caps Lock key (does anyone actually ever use it? For a good purpose, I mean). If we could use one of these buttons to shift the mouse into scroll mode, we would have suddenly scroll-enabled a huge number of mice! Unfortunately, I don't know anywhere near of .001% of XFree86's innards as to figure out whether this keyboard-mouse coordination is at all feasible within the input layer, but I do think it would be extremely cool. _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
