All,

I was wondering who was currently working on the 3D support for the ATI
Radeon 8500, and what work remains... I'm trying to familiarize myself with
the XFree86 source tree, (starting with find -name \*radeon\*,) but a helpful
guide would be greatly appreciated. I have the card in a Linux 2.4.17-smp
system, XFree86 4.2.0 release installed, based on RH7.2 and rawhide. X and
KDE work just fine so far. (For the curious, my primary motivation is to get
U.T. running on this machine at a playable speed.)
I found some references to a Kevin and/or Keith who was working on this in
his 'spare time', but nothing more, um, helpful.

I have been doing Linux kernel programming for a couple of years, so I am
hoping I can contribute, rather than just ask 'when is it going to be done?'
;)
So, is there someone working on this who I can help? If not, is there
someone willing to help guide me in the right general direction/give
advice/review code/provide moral support/tell me I'm out of my mind? :)

TIA,

Eli (CC's appreciated, I'm not yet subscribed to the list.)
