I've seen that with my dual radeons. I got past the Screen not
configured issue, and then my Xserver started locking up. Much the same
as Mark's. I'd assumed it was the fact that nobody had tested
the radeon driver with two boards yet, and wrote it off. (and I was
thinking of returning the boards and getting NV boards because my
feeble hacking wasn't getting them working ;)
Should I talk to you about Radeon issues?
