Xig worked on this for their server, but gave up on it, at least for now, because it can be a bit unstable. Someone hacked a version of XFree86 to do this with a USB mouse/keyboard, but I don't know how stable it is. This could be quite useful for a Kiosk or classroom setup. I think it would be a good thing.
As for sharing a keyboard, how do the servers know who wants to be typing? A keyboard switch plus the VT-less server would fix that, if you can get a VT-less servwer running.
