GPM also causes your mouse to behave less optimally when your system
is under load, for the same reasons stated before: you have no guantee
gpm will be run in a timely fashion.
Smart people turn off GPM when using X; IMHO, the only time gpm makes
sense is if you do significant amounts of work on the text console.
