Howdy,
I'm pretty sure this problem just cropped up for me, but I can't be
certain. I just switched from a CRT with analog connection to a TFT
with a DVI connection. My Radeon All-in-Wonder supports both, so I kept
the same card. After starting to use the DVI connection, DPMS no longer
works. 'xset dpms force off' produces this error message:
jwb@noodles ~ % xset dpms force off
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 138 (DPMS)
Minor opcode of failed request: 6 (DPMSForceLevel)
Serial number of failed request: 11
Current serial number in output stream: 13
I also get these messages in the log file:
(II) Loading extension DPMS
(II) RADEON(0): DPMS capabilities: Off; RGB/Color Display
(WW) RADEON(0): Option "DPMS" is not used
I enabled DPMS in the config file with this section:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Generic Monitor"
HorizSync 30-81
VertRefresh 50-85
Option "DPMS"
DisplaySize 432 324
EndSection
When I was using the CRT, DPMS worked fine. Why the difference?
