With the Trio *cards* (as opposed to onboard) I've often had extremely variable results, as in, you can swap a Trio card for an identical one and it behaves differently (ie, one will work with full hardware acceleration, another requires it to all be disabled, still others will work with one or a few but not all accelerations enabled. Likewise, incidentally, for the SiS6326 (and in the case of builtins, this holds true for swapping motherboards and is just as dodgy under Windows, so it's probably not the XFree 6326 drivers); the 6326 has a `turbo' transfer mode which often increases your luck. Try switching off all hardware acceleration (an option called noaccel) and see how you go. If that works, try enabling acceleration one piece at a time. One odd thing that sometimes helps, and I'm not sure why is to use a software cursor. Read the man page for the driver (or, if that's entirely unhelpful, `strings' the driver binary or read the source).
