I've tried with 2314, 2802, and 2880 as far as drivers go (everyone else
who uses these reports success; this is an isolated incident, AFAIK). I
forgot to mention this in the original post, but I've tried kernels
2.4.15/2.5.0 (yes, patched to fix the filesystem corruption) and 2.4.17.
