Another (happier) update on the Radeon dual head stuff.
After fighting with this on Friday and sending you email I ran away for the weekend. On Saturday a squirrel chose to end it's life in our building's power transformer, taking out the AC power for a few hours. On Monday I came it to find all my machines rebooted ( so much for setting any up-time records :) ), and both heads on the Radeon 7000 up and working. I'm guessing that the hardware needed to be fully powered down to undo the previous single head configuration settings. I've had other problems with dual head software on the alpha platform caused by incomplete initialization of the second head. Anyway, it's now running just fine. If you like I can send you my XF86Config-4, but there's nothing special in it. /var/log/XFree86.0.log has all the appropriate info for two heads. For those that tuned in late, here's the original configuration description... > Did you ever get your dual head Radeon to activate the second head? > > I have more or less the same symptoms (first head works fine, the mouse > will move off the screen to what should be the second head, but the > second monitor never comes to life). > > I'm running a Redhat 2.4.9-31 kernel with Redhat 7.1 and updated rpms to > add Xfree 4.2. > > My symptoms are slightly different in that my XFree86.0.log does not > show any references to RADEON(1), only to RADEON(0).
