I believe you are looking for the "vesa" and "vga" drivers. Some linux
distributions include an XF86Config file setup for "vesa". Caused me some
trouble a couple of times as it seems that X prefers /etc/X11/XF86Config
to /etc/XF86config and I was wondering why the heck the changes I make in
/etc/XF86Config have no effect.
