Hi,

I was chasing down an initialization problem in a Linux kernel video driver,
and I put a printk in the kernel video driver routine set_cmap. During the
startup of the 3.3.6 X Server XF68_FBDev, set_cmap is called 256 times.
During the startup of the 4.2.0 X Server fbdev, the routine is called 753
times. I find this rather bizarre.

Does anyone have an explanation for why so many calls are needed?

Thanks,
Skip
