I have a similar problem with my VAIO PCG-F707 (which has a neomagic NM2230 graphics chip), but it happens when I stop X. I've had it with CVS builds since about 1st May. Please see http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/xpert/2002-May/017995.html which mentions that a fix is in progress, and notes that CVS builds are not guaranteed to be reliable. -- Dr. Andrew C.
