I'm not aware of any scalable versions of the misc-fixed fonts; I think they were deliberately designed as a family of bitmaps. (You can of course use the ":scaled" suffix on your fontpath, and scale these fonts, but I expect that they would look bad). A scalable version would probably replace the whole family -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--*-*-*-*-c-*-iso8859-1 (or a wider character set). Note that that name describes a 13pixel, 12point, 75dpi fixed-width font with an average width of 60 (I think that means 6.0points). If you a looking for a scalable font, the name would probably not be that tightly specified (although you might request that much detail when you ask for it to be drawn). -- Dr. Andrew C.
